Our Goals
The overall goal of the Temple’s educational program is to deepen and broaden our students’ Jewish experience and knowledge. We believe that Judaism contains helpful answers to the challenges and questions which confront the human spirit and that a knowledgeable Jew will be able to make full use of the wisdom of our heritage. Most of all, we want your children’s Temple experience to be enjoyable.
Our goal is to help our students become:
Jews who affirm their Jewish identity and bind themselves inseparably to their people by word and deed.
Jews who have an appreciation for the heritage of their tradition and the progressive nature of our movement.
Jews who support and participate in the life of the synagogue.
Jews who understand and participate in Jewish worship.
Jews who take pride and joy in observing the ceremonies that mark significant occasions: namely, Consecration, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Confirmation, Graduation, Marriage, Death and Burial.
Jews who maintain the home as the foundation of Jewish life by incorporating Jewish practices and observations into it.
Jews who cherish and study Hebrew, the language of the Jewish people.
Jews who affirm our people’s historic bond to the land of Israel and the people of Israel.
Jews who express their kinship with the community of Israel (K’lal Yisrael) by actively seeking the welfare of Jews throughout the world.
Jews who become people of compassion and character, who “do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God”. (Micah 6:8)
Note: The above values are shared with the National Commission on Education of the Union for Reform Judaism.
