Cantor Jennifer Duretz Peled
Cantor Jennifer Duretz Peled, appointed Cantor of Temple B'nai Israel in July 2008, considers herself blessed to be doing work for which she truly feels passionate. Cantor Duretz Peled knew when she made her first trip to Israel during a Taglit Birthright Israel trip that she wanted to bring her love of Judaism and music together.
Cantor Duretz Peled received her Cantorial Investiture in May, 2008 from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Wyncote, PA. She also received a Masters in Cantorial Studies and a Masters in Jewish Music from Gratz College in Melrose Park, PA in 2008, where she was the Abramson Fellow.
Cantor Duretz Peled studied at Universitat Haifa in Israel where she loved living among such a diverse population of Jews, Christians, and Muslims. She also studied Opera Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she was the recipient of the Emma Lou Young Vocal Award. Cantor Duretz Peled received her Bachelor of Arts in Voice Performance with a concentration in Opera at the University of West Florida where she was a two time recipient of the Samuel Gittenstein Vocal Award.
During her cantorial studies, Cantor Duretz Peled was the NFTY-STR Song leading Advisor from 2004-2008. She was the Music Educator and High Holiday Family Service Leader at Main Line Reform Temple in Wynnewood, PA. She was the music educator and Junior Congregation leader at Congregation Adath Jerhurun in Elkins Park, Pa. Cantor Duretz Peled has also spent three summers at URJ Camp Coleman as the Head Song leader. During her final year of school, Cantor Duretz Peled was our Cantorial Intern.
Cantor Jennifer Duretz Peled and her husband, Matan, already feel so much a part of the Temple B'nai Israel family, and are looking forward to making it a long lasting relationship.
